Tomasovic’s Greenhouse, Des Peres, Missouri
The Tomasovic family has been in greenhouse floral production business since 1931. John Sr., John Jr., and his wife Beth own
and manage the 6-acre facility where they produce bedding plants for sales to landscapers, garden centers, and non-profit
organizations. Dry bulb sales and production of garden mums are done in the fall. Easter lilies and poinsettias are produced for
holiday sales.
Ahner’s Garden and Gifts, Des Peres, Missouri
Ahner’s has been a retail grower for 60 years. Owners Rich Ahner and his sister Pat purchased the facility in 1993. Since then,
they have added an upscale garden center with new production greenhouses. Ahner’s grows a number of crops, including orchidsand foliage plants, poinsettias, mums, bedding plants, and hanging baskets.
N.G. Heimos Greenhouses Inc, Sunset Hills, Missouri
The Sunset Hills, Missouri facility is where indoor blooming crops and Micky’s Minis miniature plants are grown. The growers
have set up a system for scouting the greenhouse for insects and fungus so they can treat small areas early instead of the whole
greenhouse. The main Heimos location (not a scheduled visit) is in Millstadt, Illinois and has over 25 acres of greenhouse, office,
and production facilities, and a retail center.
